We tested the Biktrix step thru ebike

At first glance you’ll immediately notice the bikes design is minimal and clean. This is largely due to the discrete battery mounted in the aluminum frame. The Biktrix Commuter looks like a regular bike, but has solid electric commuting capabilities. This step thru ebike has a 350 watt rear hub motor.

What’s great about this step thru ebike?

Besides looking cool, this ebike has sleek fenders that cover both wheels. These fenders help keep dirt and rocks away from the bike. The tires on this electric cycle are 700x40c or 27.5×1.57 inches. This size bike tire is optimal for riding on paved roads and trails.

The rear rack is a great addition for transporting packs and bags. A front headlight and brake activated rear taillight improve visibility on the busy streets and trails. A great bike safety feature. The overall design features of this bike are simple and modern.

Is this step though ebike comfortable?

Yes. This electric bike has a comfortable upright riding position which makes it ideal for seeing your surroundings. The single shock fork provided better handling than expected over bumps. The 6 speed Shimano shifters worked smoothly with the electric motor.

Step thru ebike display

The lettering of the display is, bold and easy to read. Speed, distance, battery level and pedal assist level are the main functionalities. A drawback of the display is that it doesn’t support mph but kph. (I typically use a gps app while riding to track speed and distance)

Step thru ebike battery

This ebike features a 36V 10.4Ah Battery. To remove the battery for charge, simply use the key.

This battery is able to take me about 10-12 miles without pedaling using full electric. I’d imagine the bike has a range of 18-25 miles with pedal assist. The amount of range depends on a number of factors including wind, elevation, speed, rider.

Agility of ebike

I tested the agility of the bike by driving fast in a zig zag pattern. The bike handled the sharp turns, but I think where this bike excels most is in city commuting. As the commuter in the name implies.

Speed of ebike

At full electric speed without peddling this bike peaked at 18 mph. A good speed for getting around the city. The twist throttle provided smooth acceleration.

Stopping power of ebike

This step thru ebike is equipped with mechanical disc brakes on the front and rear wheel. Even at 18mph the brakes quickly brought the bike to a stop.
